History...

The original owner, Axel Albring, purchased this new car in January 1935. Albring, was a priest from Laholm, a small town in the southern part of Sweden. He owned the car until his death in 1943.

Axel Albrings brother-in-law, an architect, bought the car from Mrs.Albring He owned and used the car to 1961, when he sold it to a Volvo dealer outside the small town of Halmstad, Sweden.
This Volvodealer, Gunnar Rejme, parked the car in a garage and it was standing there until i purchased it 1986.

This car is still "alive" today primarily because during World War 2 (1939-1945), the Swedish military took tires from all known Volvo PV-658. These tires fit the Volvo military vehicles. This left all PV-658s parked in garages or otherwise stored, without spokes and tires.
Following the end of the war, most of the other PV-658s were not in good condition or were taken to the junkyard.

TR stands for the Swedish word "trafikvagn," taxi cab, and these models were specifically built to be taxis. The corresponding standard version was designated PV658/659. The TR had a longer wheelbase and seven seats. Under the hood, there was a side-valve, six-cylinder engine in the EC version. The Volvo cab was loved by its users and almost indestructible to use.

The appearance in 1935 of the PV658 and PV659 was a considerable change from the previous modell. The radiator sloped slightly backwards and a grille was fitted in front of the radiator. The unique hubcaps also contributed to the new character. A more powerful version of the 6-cylinder engine was another new feature. It had a displacement of 3.67 litres and developed 80 bhp.
